⑵ NAVIGATION ILS Localizer ILS (Instrument Landing System) is installed at the airport to support the safety of the approaching aircraft under the low visibility. ILS localizer will give the position information to the pilot where he or she is on the center, right, or left hand of the runway.
ILS Glide Slope ILS (Instrument Landing System) is installed at the airport to support the safety of the approaching aircraft under the low visibility. Glide Slope will give the position information to the pilots where he or she is on course, above or below the approach path (usually 3 degrees).
VOR/DME VOR/DME (VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range/ Distance Measuring Equipment) is installed at the airport or en-routes to support the safety of aircraft flying around airport or en-routes. VOR gives the directional information and DME gives the distance information.
TACAN TACAN (Tactical Air Navigation System) is installed at the airport or en-routes to support the safety of aircraft flying around the airport or en-route. TACAN was originally developed for military aircraft using UHF band frequency. Civil aircraft can not derive the directional information but the distance information from TACAN.
